Adjust amount offered daily as needed to maintain ideal body condition. This feeding guide provides a starting point for the amount of food to give your dog each day. We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow them to become overweight. The amount of food your dog needs can vary based on age, activity level or other food and treats given, so be sure to work with your veterinarian to determine an appropriate weight for your dog, and to make any necessary adjustments to their feeding.

Changing to Taste of the Wild Pet Foods
When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7-10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.AAFCO

Ancient Mountain Canine Recipe with Roasted Lamb is rated out of 5 by 319.Rated 5 out of 5 by elllllllimak from My dog is one of the pickiest eaters. And once we find something he likes if we feed it to him too often he gets burnt out and refuses to eat it. He also has to smell all his food for a good 20-30 seconds before eating it, to make sure he wants it. I was shocked when I gave him these crunchies! First off, he gave them a quick sniff, not as prolonged as usual. Then he immediately gobbled it up! And everyday I have him a little of the crunchies until there was no more, and not once did sniff it or pass it down. With no hesitation he gobbled them up everytime, which is very rare for him! I think these might be a keeper!Date published: 2019-11-11Rated 4 out of 5 by krshb from I received this product to test in exchange for my honest review. While I am not a dog and cannot speak for my pets, I would give this product good marks for the ingredients it offers !! This recipe includes ancient grains like quinoa and chia which is a nice alternative to corn based dog foods. I have a teacup poodle who is 11 and a 6 year old Japanese spitz. Id say this is a great size for small/medium pets but Id keep in mind your dogs age - my Japanese spitz (who in retrospect eats anything) had no problem with eating her share but my teacup poodle didnt really show any interest. Maybe due to how hard it is as well.Date published: 2019-10-30Rated 5 out of 5 by The Millers from What a difference!! My dogs have been on a chicken based diet for their entire lives - and then developed an allergy. Gas has always been an issue with one of them too. We switched to taste of the wild ancient mountain and its crazy the difference. The gas issues are GONE. Our wire hair guy is significantly softer and the other one is teddy bear soft. They have almost no smell to them, the allergy and discolor has completely cleared up. And they love it!! They are 6.5 years old and just as energetic as they were at 6 months. It's great to see them thriving.Date published: 2021-04-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from One Year Later, Empty Bowls Baxter was diagnosed with IBD in August of 2023; that's Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He basically stopped eating anything all summer. After tests, X-rays and sonograms he was diagnosed with IBD. Baxter's veterinarian told me to cut beef and chicken from his diet. She also gave me a list of food he CAN eat. Taste of the Wild Ancient Grains was on the list. I bought a bag of the roasted lamb. Baxter loved it! One year later, he's still cleaning his bowl daily. He's had no issues with the food and has regular poops. I couldn't be happier and so glad his vet recommended this brand. Ten year old, one hundred and ten pound,bBaxter gives it four paws up!Date published: 2024-07-24Rated 5 out of 5 by tasiak from We have two German Shepherds (well, one May be part Maligator, but anyways...) and they love trying new food. One is a senior/geriatric dog and the other is under 2, so they both need the best nutrition they can get. I tested the Taste of the Wild food on them separately and well, they both loved it! To them, it was a treat. Usually you have to entice them to eat dry food, but not with Taste of the Wild! And I like that its made with quality ingredients, so I know theyre getting the nutrients they need!Date published: 2019-11-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Gary from Our Dog Loves Taste of the Wild Lamb Formula We went thru several different "recommended" dog foods, trying to find the correct balance of ingredients to ease her stomach redness/inflammation. We read an article about the benefit of ancient grains and decided to check out Taste of the Wild. Amazing results with the Roasted Lamb and Ancient Grain Formula. All the redness quickly disappeared from her stomach and thigh area, as well as the scratching/biting that the inflammation caused. Have been using this canine exclusively for the past 4 years. She loves the food and we love how it has improved her health. We hope you never quit making this formula! Thank you for the great quality!Date published: 2025-02-16Rated 4 out of 5 by arty from I gotta say I was a little confused on how I could personally review a dog food. I was giving it to my 4 dogs in handfuls as a treat and they seemed to enjoy it, then again, theyll eat literally anything lol... But there were some positives from this, I have one dog that has food sensitivities and he had started to throw up the food he had been eating, almost nightly. I swapped to a different food and he seems to be better but I have run out... this food was all that I felt comfortable with feeding him and it came in clutch. He seems to be able to handle it pretty well, no vomiting so I might end up getting a bag for him. Kibble size seems fine, he gobbles it all right up and seems to enjoy it. :) thanks Influenster for providing my doggo with a nice dinner!Date published: 2019-11-12Rated 5 out of 5 by kelliewec23 from My dogs used to eat the original formula of this brand and loved it. To be honest Im not sure why we stopped using it. I would highly recommend this dog food. We have two dogs of completely different breeds (one lab pitbull mix and one total mutt) so finding a food that suits large and small breeds can be challenging. Not to mention my small dog is a picky eater. I received this product and was excited to give it to them. They both gobbled it down and had no adverse reactions after. Ill have to buy a full size bag of this once we run out of our other dog food!Date published: 2019-11-04What is the basis for or against grains in dog food? And Do you have a small bite recipe for for my Havanese with a poor bite?
Hello, and thanks for reaching out! Grain-free diets are great options for dogs that have allergies/sensitivities to grains. Because every dog is different and has varying tastes and nutritional needs which is why we’ve created Ancient Grains recipes that reflect our classic Taste of the Wild flavors. Ancient grains — including grain sorghum, millet, quinoa and chia seed are high in protein, and have been trusted sources of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and omega fatty acids which support strong, healthy dogs at all life stages. Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley Small Breed Canine Recipe is specifically formulated for small breed dogs. This grain-free recipe features smaller kibble, making it easier for your dog to chew and digest. This recipe is also more energy-dense, meaning it has higher levels of protein and fat so small breed dogs can eat smaller amounts and still meet their nutritional needs. While our Ancient Mountain Canine Recipe was not specifically formulated for small breed dogs, our kibbles were created with dogs of all sizes in mind.
