Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the food but confused about ingredient label! My rescue GSD loves the High Prairie food, and it has done wonders for her overall appearance - her coat has thickened and softened so much - and she's so playful and happy. Easy on the tummy, too. She never gets sick eating it. My friend uses the High Prairie puppy formula. My only confusion is over the labeling. If you look at the ingredients and the guaranteed analysis on your WEBSITE, both of them list taurine, which is important for me. Not a lot of dog foods include it. However, when you look at the actual label on the bag, taurine is omitted. Why?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never been so happy to see my dog eat! Mabel is a 6 month old GSD mix puppy. After being on 3 other puppy foods prior, at the recommendation from a friend, we tried TOTW High Prairie Puppy. Mabel was having some stomach problems, wasn't interested in eating, had started to lose weight because she was vomiting up the food we had her on at the time(and no it wasn't cheap stuff), and also has a sensitivity to chicken. We took her to the vet and had a barium swallow and x-rays done just to be sure there wasn't an obstruction. Everything came back normal. So we bought a bag and after a few days on this food she is excited to eat, dances around her food dish, has more energy, and is back to acting like an energetic puppy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My owner was away from his computer... Hi, my name is Molly. I’m a Wheaten Terrier, 14 weeks old, and I am writing to comment (don't tell my owner I'm using his computer) about Taste of the Wild puppy formula. My owner switched me over to this after arriving at my new home. I must say, I really like the taste! I always finish my meals, right down to the last kibble, so I’m sure that the TOTW company is doing something right. I also love the ingredients… no corn or other grains to upset my little tummy, and the first ingredient is buffalo… yummy! There are also lots of vitamins and other good things to keep me healthy. This is my first Amazon post, and I hope my review will help other dogs who see this post make a smart decision when considering puppy food. Thank you for reading, and tell your owners about this. - Molly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food for our babies!!! We changed our girls food to Taste of the Wild Puppy and could not be more pleased!!! The food has made our girl look so healthy!! The big surprise is that as most knows a German Shepard sheds a lot of hair but feeding her Taste of Wild has reduced the shedding to a minimum!!! Wow we are so grateful to be able to get this good food for our baby and to see how healthy she looks!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pup food We rescued a 4 month old puppy from a hoarding situation. She was horribly under weight, her fur and skin were in bad shape. We have been feeding our other dogs Taste of the Wild for years. We had never used the puppy formula before so we gave it a chance. We were impressed with how quickly our little girls put on weight, thickened her very short coat, and how soft her coat became.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the only food i will feed my pets We had a heart dog who owned us for 14 years. He ate TOTW High Prairie for 9 of those years, he never had any health issues. well, 1 ear infection his entire life, he died healthy and active from bloat. So when we decided it was time to get our new puppies, Australian Shepherds, the only brand we turned to was TOTW. They both love the food, they both are healthy and thriving, we did get them very young as the person that had them was ready for them to be gone at 4 weeks, they were eating TOTW Puppy High Prairie from 4 weeks, they are now 14 weeks and are active and healthy puppies. We also feed TOTW to our 2 cats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picky and sensitive pup loves it I have a czechoslovakian wolfdog pup, and ever since I brought her she never liked any of the dry foods I tried and always had diarrhea. Following many frustrating months, I contacted a breeder from abroad and she highly recommended feeding my pup with taste of the wild. My pup loves it and the diarrhea stopped almost immediately after she began eating this food, she gained lots of weight and her fur became lovely.

We feed TOTW High Prairie Adult Our female GSD will be having a litter of puppies. The Protein is lower at 29% in the puppy formula compared to 32% in the adult. Would it be more beneficial to leave her on the adult formula?

Asked by: GSD1
The High Prairie Puppy is formulated with the proper levels of calcium and phosphorus, critical nutrients for pregnancy, lactation and growth. The 29% protein is more than enough to meet the needs of your GSD while she is pregnant and we would advise you to transition to this formula when she is about half way through her pregnancy.

My 23lbs corgi suffers from bladder stone , which formula would you recommend?

Asked by: jennhsy
Hi, thank you for your question. Sorry to hear about your Corgi's bladder stones. There are several different types of stones and the treatment or management differs depending on the type of stone. Your dog may require a prescription diet to help eliminate or prevent future stones. We recommend that you talk with your veterinarian about the type of stones that your dog has and what the best diet would be.

Our 6 month old standard poodle had diarrhea for approximately one month. We called our vet right away and they put her through testing and medication series twice with no change. Now they're saying the dog food has too much protein. Is this common?

Asked by: Cocomo
Hello, apologies for the delayed response. The protein levels in our puppy formulas do not commonly cause diarrhea in otherwise healthy puppies. You might consider trying our Pacific Stream Puppy formula, as it is a little lower in protein and is formulated with a different protein source (salmon rather than venison/bison). Dogs can develop intolerances or allergies to specific proteins, which may manifest as gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea. When this occurs, it is not necessarily the amount of protein that causes the problem, but rather the source of the protein.

I have a 5 month old Yorkipoo and a 6 week old Boxador. Can I feed both of them the High Prairie puppy formula with Roasted bison and roasted venison? Or because of the size difference, should I feed my yorkipoo a different formula?

Asked by: Jenna
Hello, Jenna and thanks for reaching out! High Prairie Puppy is an “all life stages” recipe, meaning it is formulated to meet the nutritional needs of healthy dogs of all ages and sizes and can be fed to both of your pups throughout adulthood. Please be sure to follow the feeding guide on the side gusset of the bag. If you are transitioning, we recommend a gradual transition to our High Prairie Puppy Formula. You can do this by starting with 25 percent of the recommended feeding portion of High Prairie mixed with 75 percent of the recommended feeding portion of the old recipe for 2-3 days. Then move to 50 percent of each for 2-3 days and then 75 percent of High Prairie with 25 percent of the old for 2-3 days before feeding High Prairie exclusively. If you have any questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

Hello, thanks for contacting us. According to our feeding guide, your puppy will eat approximately 3 cups of our High Prairie Puppy Recipe per day, or approximately 42 cups in two weeks. Our 5lb bags contain approximately 20 cups, so we would recommend shipping the 14lb bag for your trip.

Do you recommend alternating your two puppy foods monthly (salmon/gravy one month and bison/venison one month month) or just keep with the same food for a 6 month old Springer Spaniel??

Asked by: Robert
Hello and thank you for reaching out! Many pets enjoy eating more than one Taste of the Wild recipe, however, to avoid digestive upset, we do recommend limiting your rotation to two recipes and gradually mixing foods over a 7-10-day period. You can do this by starting with 25 percent of the recommended feeding portion of the new recipe mixed with 75 percent of the recommended feeding portion of the old recipe for 2-3 days. Then move to 50 percent of each for 2-3 days and then 75 percent of the new with 25 percent of the old for 2-3 days before feeding the new recipe exclusively. Hi, Steve. Since High Prairie Puppy is an all life stages formula, it can be continued indefinitely and will work for both of your dogs. However, if you’d like to transition your puppy to the High Prairie Canine formula, please talk to your veterinarian about the right time to do so. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy formula until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult formula.
