Turkey Limited Ingredient Recipe for Dogs

The diet of the native canine was quite simple, consisting mainly of the prey they hunted. A simple, limited ingredient diet offers many benefits. They can be easier for some dogs to digest and may be a good choice for dogs who have experienced sensitivities to certain ingredients. PREY Turkey Recipe for Dogs features cage-free turkey as the first of just four key ingredients, followed by lentils, chicken fat and tomato pomace which provide antioxidants, omega fatty acids and important nutrients such as DHA. Finally, guaranteed, species-specific probiotics help support digestion and carefully selected vitamins and minerals ensure your dog gets the simple yet complete nutrition they need, without the hunt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I get cautious about introducing new food to my dog. Not because of her stomach, but because of her make-up. What do I mean by that? She's a mastiff-pit bull mix, and she was diagnosed with arthritis at just the age of 4.5 years old. So we were told to make sure we got weight off of her and give her joint supplements. I noticed that giving her a grain-free diet really improved her mobility, so I'm pleased that this Wild Prey Turkey Formula for Dogs is indeed grain free! I gave her a few pieces to try last night as "treats" and she scarfed it right down. Based on her size, this bag won't go very far when mixing it in with her normal food, but I think it's another great alternative to try. Thanks, Influenster!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We are using our samples as treats. Anytime you change a cat or dogs diet suddenly it will upset their digestive system. Angus beef is definitely a unique flavor option for cats. It is fairly high in calories compared to a lot of other grain free foods in the market. There are a lot of ingredients that I would not have my pets eat on a daily basis. Although this is not a food I would feed my pets, the packaging and quality seems good. Cats specifically thrive on certain byproducts. These extremely limited ingredient formulas are not ideal for regular use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My pup is super fussy about dog food. There are only a few kinds that he truly enjoys and I am glad to have received these samples for him because he loves the Turkey flavored food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It handled a very long problem with diarrhea Our German Shephard has been having trouble for 3 years with diarrhea that would come and go every couple of days, no matter what we tried, even using probiotics and other recommendations. A pet store recommended Taste of the Wild Turkey and within 24 hours her diarrhea was gone and has never come back. We were amazed! This is really a great, healthy dog food for dogs with sensitive stomachs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 5 years old Maltese loved very much l this stuff! After we get from Influenster, we gave him as a treat for see his reaction. He really loved the taste and always ask for. More! He was a stray, and believe that may have something to do with him being a fussy eater. Took me about 6 weeks to get him to stop gobbling all of his food at one time, and now he snacks on his breakfast all day long -- he does finish it, which he did not do with some other brands. He also likes the smaller size kibbles which makes it easier for him to eat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog Ticket absolutely loved this food and inhaled it. Once this is available to get near home I'll be switching from our current brand to this. He usually is picky when it comes to food but he was trying to eat it as I was opening the bag. Once I received it he was sniffing the bag and trying to bite it open. Can't wait to buy this for him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have a 6LB Pomeranian and he is a pretty food motivated dog. He seemed to like the food and it was easy enough for him to chew, he doesn't do well with big pieces. I would probably buy this food for him, seemed to be good quality and he enjoyed. I wish they would tell you what stores it is at because they do not carry it at PetSmart by me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally the perfect food! My 7month old Bernedoodle has been through every puppy dry puppy food I could find to eliminate runny and liquid stools. FINALLY, the nutritionist at Pet Supplies Plus recommended Taste of the Wild Prey. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying. Success....he is happier and so am I! Wish it came in a 40lb bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 8 month old puppy LOVED this food! And I loved the limited ingredient recipe. It is non-GMO, grain free, and only 4 ingredients. My only complaint is that I use Chewy to order my dogs food and other supplies and they only carry the traditional Taste of the Wild foods rather than the limited ingredient. Since I haven't been able to find an online source that sells this product, I am unsure of the price. If the availability improves I would definitely consider purchasing this food and would recommend it to friends

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dogs loved it!! It’s nice to know I am feeding my dog children something that is natural and healthy! They didn’t experience any type of diarrhea after eating it either! Usually when we change up food it doesn’t always agree with their body! The size is perfect for even my tiny chihuahua as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really like this dog food. The packaging is nice. And I really like the ingredients. It sounds like a great brand. Unfortunately my dog doesn’t like dog food. Just in general. This one was the same. He ate it, somewhat. It doesn’t hold his attention though. He’s spoiled. So no fault of the food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I tried the dog and cat food. My cat won’t eat anything other than her specific brand, so there’s no telling with that. However, my dog absolutely loves this food! She’s had a couple of different flavors and has enjoyed each of them equally. She usually favors anything chicken but I noticed she loved the fish flavor of this brand. It is a little pricey but it’s good quality food, you get what you pay for. I love that it’s simple and few ingredients so I have less to worry about what is going in my fur child.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dezy girl LOVED this food! She devoured it and it did so well with it. She’s a pitbull and doesn’t do well with many foods but she had no problems with this one. I highly recommend it if you have a pitbull.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The food was way to hard for my dog to even chew he really don’t have much back teeth so I’m sure that didn’t help either. I think it was a good value for maybe a bigger dog not so much for a chihuahua

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you While I have already sent a thank you email to the company, I wanted to make sure everyone knew how happy I am with this formula. My 14 1/2 year old shih-poo has always been a very picky eater. A few months ago, she suffered pyometra and spend the better part of 2 weeks in the vet's. They could not get her to eat and I spent everyday there trying to get her to eat. All she wanted was turkey baby food and baked turkey breast. She didn't want any kibble. I requested a sample of the Prey Turkey (our other girls eat the Southwest Canyon), and she could not stop eating it from the moment I offered it to her. She lost 1/3 of her body weight during that time, but now she is back to normal weight and eating every kibble at every meal. I am super happy to have found a formula that keeps my baby healthy and happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have a 4 year old Husky. I scooped some of the food into his bowl and he literally ate the entire bowl in 10 seconds. I am pleased with the ingredient list and lack of color of the actual food (this is something that can upset a cat/dog's stomach) The sample size was not large enough to get a full idea of the food, as Titan tends to be sensitive to any change in diet. He did enjoy the food enough that I have decided to try to switch him over to this brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The ingredients looked pretty good to me.... I don’t like to give my dog a lot of corn and fillers. When I first tried to give it to him, he was expecting a treat, and refused to eat it, he can be picky, and won’t eat his normal food if there is a better choice (like real human food or a bone). Once he realized he was not getting a bone, he tried it and ate the bowl full. So, it must taste good, because he is picky and won’t eat anything he doesn’t like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As per my Instagram post I was excited I was receiving a box to review for my good boy. I left it on my table to review later at night since he had already ate. My boy is a 1yr old Medium sized MaltiPoo and he rarely rips through stuff but I’m assuming he smelled a pleasant odor from the food that he ripped the box open and ate one full baggy and opened the other one. He’s a very picky eater for a doggo that used to eat almost anything when he was a pupper. I gave him kibble by kibble after and I could tell he was really enjoying it. The day after he ate the full bag I expected to see him a little down since he wasn’t used to the food but I was surprised to see him a little more energetic. If he likes it I like I would surely recommend to anyone having problems with there dogs eating. Taste of the Wild PREY Turkey Formula for Dogs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was a major hit with our 4 year old chocolate lab!! After receiving this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes, I gave some to my dog for his evening meal and he devoured it! He ate it much better than other brands he has had before! I loved the small pieces also! It was very satisfying for my dog, so that makes it fabulous to me too! He’s happy, so we’re happy! Thanks Influenster for always sending the best products to try!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We used to feed our dogs taste of the wild dog food (a different flavor) years ago and they loved it. Now my doggo is picky picky and he was not a fan of this turkey formula. I normally feed him chicken-based food though so it was a stretch to see if I could get my doggo out of his comfort zone. I tried! He just wasnt too fond of it! If you feed your dogs a turkey-based recipe already, give this a try! They have great quality food for your fur babies!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was very excited for this product till my dog tried it. At first I noticed my dog wasn't excited about it,I just thought maybe he wasn't hungry. A few hours passed and my dog finally got to it,again he wasn't liking it because he didn't finish the tray when he usually does. Later in the day I noticed he was having discomfort and when I took him out he got extreme diarrhea. It was not pretty. Very dissatisfied with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Milo is a very hyper and active 2.5 year old Boxer mix who needs a good food to give him all the nutrients he needs for all the energy he will burn chasing squirrels and playing at the dog park. I am very concerned that the food I provide him meets his needs and was happy to try out Taste of the Wild PREY Turkey Formula. I've was happy about the ingredient list and Milo really enjoyed the taste as well! Happy doggo and momma!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Westie loved this granfree turkey formula so much that she tried to eat the bits directly from the bag. I liked that it did not have a fowl smell, and instead was very neutral. It also did not give her any stomach issues, which she has had before from very rich dog food. The ingredients were whole some (real food by products) and it seemed to have a lot of nutrients, while still being lean and healthy for her sensitive system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both of my dogs love this dog food! When we adopted our Dalmatian mix, Pudge we had to switch our food to a limited ingredient list because of his sensitive stomach. Everything we tried made him so sick but when we switched to this brand he never got sick and the vet commented on how healthy he had become (we adopted him when he was on the verge of being emaciated) and this dog food is something that brought him back to health

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great until it wasn't. Used Prey Turkey for several years until I opened a new bag and my dog started throwing up her food from the new bag. At the time didn't know it was the dog food took her to a vet and $800 of tests later showed nothing wrong with our dog. Had her on a lamb and rice mix and she was doing fine. The first time I fed her the Prey Turkey she threw up her food. I returned the prey to the store and started using another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My picky German Shepherd loved this food! I have 2 GSDs: one is picky, the other eats anything. I have bought bag after bag of food only for one to turn up his nose. I saw this bag and thought: they like turkey...hmm. I was opening this bag and they were right there, smelling, sniffing, trying to get some out of the tub. They both love it! Small, easily digestible kibbles and they have not gotten tired of it. Continuing to purchase as it is a winner in our house!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My dog would not eat this food no matter how much prodding or motivation I gave him. I mixed in his regular food, bacon, crushed up snack and my dog would simply pick out the other food and leave all of this food in his plate. Super disappointed as the ingredients seemed really good for him. Also the size was too large for my dog (he's a Maltese) so that might have contributed to him not wanting to eat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have a 3 year old jack russell who in the past has been pretty picky with his food; he LOVED this food. He was so excited to try it and scarfed it up pretty quickly. We received the Turkey flavor and we will be purchasing in the future. Turkey is high in protein and highly digestible which is a plus. The lentils are high in carbohydrates which make this a good food for my highly energetic dog.

Hello! I'm curious if you offer any weight management options among your dog food? Our pups love TOTW but are getting older.  We feed an appropriate serving but they are gaining some weight with age.

Asked by: LindseyB
Hello, Lindsey and thanks for reaching out! While we do not have any recipes specifically designed for weight loss, our lowest calorie/fat recipe from our PREY line is Trout Formula for Dogs, which contains 336kcal/cup and 15% fat as-fed. From our TOTW line, Pine Forest Canine is our lowest calorie recipe, containing 337kcal/cup. Please know, in order to lose weight, you will likely need to feed about 10-20% less than the amounts listed in the feeding guide for each recipe. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian to find the most appropriate diet based on your dogs’ needs.

Where is Prey made and are there any ingredients or vitamins made in China?

Asked by: Barb
Hi, Barb. Thank you for your interest in PREY! We have five manufacturing facilities, all located in the United States. While most of the ingredients in our formulas originate in the U.S., there are critical ingredients, however, that are not available domestically in an adequate supply or with as much quality as our international supply. These ingredients are critical to our formulations and can only be sourced out of China. We believe omitting these ingredients would not be in the best interests of your pet.
