Rated 5 out of 5 by from the dog food search is over! yay me! Thank you for this limited ingredient food. My pup can't have chicken and so many products are chicken based. The vet says to limit her proteins due to her allergies. UGH! So I needed to find a quality limited ingredient beef based food. She has eaten Taste of Wild but there were too many proteins. I was so happy to see PREY. She loves this Angus Beef Formula. Its helps that I make my own beef meatballs to add to it. The price is decent. I'm praying that PREY is successful and stays in the market. Maybe I'll see it on online sites soon, so it can be delivered to my door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let me begin this review by saying I have arguably the pickiest puppy in the whole world, but the minute the Taste of the Wild Prey food arrived from Influenster, he was so excited he started pulling the paper out of the box, eager to try it! I gave him a few bits as suggested to see if the flavor side will hold up his interest, and to my surprise and his excitement he loved it! I poured him a bowl during his normal meal time and he completely demolished his food! Knowing that what I'm feeding my little boy something that he not only loves but is good for him makes me a happy momma bear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Limited Ingredient Diet for Bulldogs Since switching to Prey Limited Ingredient Beef, I have noticed signficant difference in my Bulldogs with less skin issues and small well formed stools. Potatoes can cause yeast issues in bulldogs and it is very hard to find dog food formulas that do not contain potatoes or sweet potatoes. I have to keep my dogs diet very strict. This food is not filled with a bunch of ingredients my dogs do not need. In between meals my dogs get fruits and vegetables for snacks. I feed Prey not just to my own dogs, but to the bulldogs that I foster for Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Both of my dogs, a 4 pound Chihuahua and 95 pound Great Dane, really loved their sample of Taste of the Wild. I gave them an option between this, and their regular food, and both immediately went for Taste of the Wild, then honestly looked sad when it was gone! I took off one star because the price is about $50 per 30lbs, which is understandable for the quality of ingredients, but still a bit high. I will purchase this for my little dog and mix a bit in with my big dog's regular food, because they really do seem to love it. You can see in the photo they have completely finished off the sample and ignored the other food!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a food for sensitive stomach issues! I have a collie with a sensitive stomach. We have tried several different limited ingredient foods without success. The pet store recommended the Prey Angus beef formula. I was pleasantly surprised that my dog's digestive issues have resolved and he loves the food! He licks his bowl clean at every meal. I am so glad that we finally found a food that he can eat without issues. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zeus is obsessed! I struggled for over a year to find a dog food for my Bully, Zeus, that didn't upset his allergies or his stomach. Finally I found Taste of the Wild and it has changed his life. He loves his venison and bison flavor, but we decided to try the angus beef PREY and he cannot get enough of it! Thank you for doing what you do and having the best grain free food for my boy :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best I adopted a Portuguese podengo medio last November. I struggled to get the right dog. I tried several other premium food and my dog was constantly itching himself, dry flaky skin, loose stools. I then taste of wild I use prey bison. Our dogs coat is beautiful, rarely scratches himself, hardly sheds at all no further Loose stools. I will never try another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simple digestible and tasty My dogs were rejecting the premium dog food I was using.... regardless of flavor and their stools were soft and slimy. I tried taste of the wild prairie some improvement but they still were not 100%. As as last resort I tried Prey angus beef and wow!!! They were eating it dry out of my hand !! I didn’t have to “doctor” it up to get them to eat it. Since they were already on TOTW I didn’t wean into the Prey. In three days two meals a day their stools are normal... they are hungry eating and energetic. Rough collies do have sensitive Constitutions and the simple limited ingredients works.

Everything is clear and concise on the label except for the “natural flavoring” : A broken down protein for flavor.  No MSG. Could please explain further the source of this broken down protein?

Asked by: DaveyK
Hello, and thanks for reaching out! Natural flavor is an ingredient added for enhanced palatability and an extra-tasty meaty flavor in your pet's food. It's made from hydrolyzed chicken, which means that the protein is broken down into small particles that are less likely to be recognized by the immune system in a pet with food allergies. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us.

Why is there a lawsuit against TOTW regarding excessive amounts of lead in the food? Have you been poisoning my dog?

Asked by: Mikeb
Hi, Mike. Taste of the Wild typically does not comment on pending lawsuits. However, we feel it is important to respond to a lawsuit we believe to have baseless allegations. The lawsuit makes claims based on tests but does not include information on the laboratory or methodology of testing. Therefore, the numbers being quoted are completely unverifiable. It is important for pet owners to know that Taste of the Wild pet food is safe, and our ingredients meet FDA standards. We work with a nationally recognized, independent testing facility that holds the ISO 17025 certification as well as biological and chemical A2LA certifications. The facility conducted tests on select samples submitted by TOTW for findings on levels of arsenic, mercury, cadmium and lead. The samples as submitted resulted in “not-detectable” findings for the metals tested. There is also misleading information being circulated that compares the level of lead in contaminated water to the level claimed to have been found in one of our recipes. This raises unnecessary concern for pet parents. It is inaccurate to make that kind of direct comparison. An element like lead is absorbed by the body differently from food compared to how it is absorbed by the body from water. We are a family-owned business with a passion to provide quality, safe food that pet owners can feel confident feeding to their pets. We encourage pet parents to contact us directly with specific concerns or to learn more about our extensive food safety protocols. Why can't you quit adding Chicken of any kind to the foods? Loads of dogs are allergic to it, and finding food with out chicken is extremely difficult.

Asked by: SBJones
Hello, thanks for contacting us. Occasionally, a recipe changes due to an improvement in the recipe or ingredient availability. We recently replaced sunflower oil with chicken fat in our PREY recipes. This minor change does not alter the nutrient guarantee nor the caloric content and offers the same benefits of promoting skin and coat health. Additionally, chicken fat does not contain chicken protein, so dogs with chicken allergies are less likely to have a reaction to this ingredient.

Asked by: Cooper

With this diet, the dog is introduced to food containing a protein source that they have not previously been exposed to. Additionally, we recommend working with your veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pup. Does this have adequate levels of taurine to support DCM?

Asked by: Francesca
Hi, Francesca. Because dogs are normally able to synthesize taurine it is not required it in their diets. In fact, the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) does not provide recommendations for the amount of taurine in the food, therefore, we do not measure the amount in our formulas. However, they do require a minimum of 0.70% methionine-cystine (the necessary amino acid precursors for taurine synthesis) for all life stages formulas. Our Angus Beef Formula for Dogs contains 0.98% methionine-cystine on an as-fed basis. For dogs diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy due to taurine deficiency, we recommend consulting your veterinarian regarding taurine supplementation.

This guide is offered as a starting point to determine the right amount to feed your dog based on their age and current weight. The amount listed in the feeding guide is the recommended total number of 8-ounce measuring cups (standard kitchen measuring cup) that your dog should eat per day.
